As a mom and food enthusiast, I’ve always loved making homemade jelly treats for myself and my family. Traditional jelly-making can be quite an adventure – gathering different ingredients like gelatin, sugar, flavoring agents, and dealing with precise measurements and temperature control. Not to mention the time spent running to different stores just to find the right ingredients!
My journey for simple & delicious vegan solutions
As a health-conscious mom, my search for the perfect jelly was far from simple. I tried countless store-bought options, but none met my expectations. Many required extra ingredients like sweeteners or stabilizers, making them anything but convenient. Others used gelatin, which didn’t fit my preference for plant-based alternatives.
Then there were the bright, artificially colored jellies. While they might catch the eye, they clashed with my commitment to clean eating and natural ingredients. The taste was another disappointment—rarely capturing the authentic flavors I wanted for my family. I longed for a jelly solution I could trust: simple, wholesome, and naturally delicious.
Rediscover Tradition
This quest for the perfect jelly solution led me back to my childhood memories in Taiwan. Growing up, I watched my grandmother make traditional Winter Melon Tea (冬瓜茶) – its natural sweetness and preparation process sparked an idea. Why not apply similar techniques to create a better jelly solution?
Drawing from this inspiration, we developed HeySweet using Brown Sugar and konjac, a plant-based ingredient that provides the perfect texture. By combining traditional Asian ingredients with modern food technology, we created a complete solution that delivers the authentic brown sugar taste with jelly.
